The Anfield Face Off

Atletico Madrid vs Liverpool

Diego Forlan scores in the first leg...

Atletico Madrid welcome themselves to L4 tomorrow for the second leg of our Europa League Semi Final with the Spaniards. After all the hectic travel arrangements Liverpool suffered for the first leg, Atletico have had no such problems for the trip to England.

With the prospect of another European final for Liverpool and obviously the chance of silverware, Anfield should be buzzing tomorrow night, resembling that world famous atmosphere that footballing culture knows so well.

Liverpool were unlucky in a sense in the first leg when a scrappy goal from Diego Forlan found its way past Golden Glove contender Pepe Reina. The lads weren't playing at their best but the 1-0 still gives the Reds the upper hand tomorrow night.

As we are all aware, star striker Fernando Torres will not be fit to face his old employers, and the rest of the list of injuries still drags on pretty long.

Long standing injuries to Martin Skrtel, Emiliano Insua and Martin Kelly mean they are all still out along with Brazilian Fabio Aurelio.

There is some hope that strikers David N'Gog and Dirk Kuyt could feature after a very late assessment for the pair.

Atletico again are believed to have no real injury worries. They will also be boosted by the return of Aguero into the side.

With Steven Gerrard being so influential against Burnley it would be fantastic to see him bring that attitude into this game. Another player to highlight too is Aquilani who was excellent on the weekend, with the boss lacking options and perhaps favouring the idea of a more threatening Liverpool side in attack he could make the start tomorrow night.

With Rafa also coming out today and requesting we forget the scoreline, i have to say that is the correct mentality. Liverpool still have the same task on their hands as they would of whether the first leg was win, lose or draw - they must play to win.

Lets hope tomorrow night is another memorable European clash at Anfield for the lads in Red.
