Reds In League Cup Quarter Final

Image
The Reds make the long old trip down south tomorrow as they prepare to face Championship side Bournemouth in the quarter final of the league cup. After suffering a 3-0 loss at the hands of Manchester United at the weekend and with rumours of dressing room instability Brendan Rodgers could do with a win tomorrow night.

Injuries for Liverpool mean they are now too without Glen Johnson. Rodgers is expected to play Brad Jones between the sticks once again and after a good second half performance it is assumed Mario Balotelli will get a start up front. Bournemouth are in relatively good shape injury wise with manager Eddie Howe able to call upon a strong starting line up.

Bournemouth currently find themselves top of the Championship after a cracking run of form. The Southerners have not lost a match in their last 10 league games. Liverpool on the other hand find themselves 11th in the Premier League. Form over the Reds' last ten games reads: W4 D2 L4.

The two sides met not so long ago…

Suarez Wins Battle Over Bale In Spurs Win

Image
Brendan Rodgers' Liverpool side showed real heart on Sunday afternoon as they fought their way past Spurs to win 3-2 at Anfield. Despite the Reds taking the lead via Luis Suarez the away side managed to find an equaliser just before half time. Thankfully for Liverpool though Spurs appeared to become a bit too complacent when they found their second goal and some concentration lapses eventually allowed Stewart Downing to equalise and Luis Suarez to win a penalty for Steven Gerrard to convert.

Liverpool had a rather familiar starting line up aside from the missing Pepe Reina who had a calf problem, Brad Jones took his place. Sturridge was also back up front for the Reds.

It was a lively atmosphere right from kick off at Anfield and there's certainly an air of positivity around the place at the moment. Slowly but surely Liverpool are moving in the right direction and the fans knew that if they could pull out a performance like they did against Wigan and Swansea then a win could …

2011/2012 Season Round Up

Image
It was a very mixed season for Liverpool that ended in the departure of Kenny Dalglish. It started well but as the league campaign continued, things began to get difficult for the Reds. Two cup finals and one cup win gave the lads some glory but an 8th place finish in the league provided a dark shadow over the season.

August 2011
Liverpool started their league campaign at home to Sunderland. I was lucky enough to be watching in Majorca but was disappointed with a Liverpool draw and having to put up with stick from a fair few Sunderland fans in the pub.

To be fair to the Reds though they didn't lose in August and it included a 2-0 victory over Arsenal at the Emirates, the first time the lads had won at Arsenal in 10 years. A Carling Cup victory in August would also be the first of many for Dalglish's side.

In the news...
- The London riots were in full swing during the British summer and sparked copycat riots all over the country.
- The start of the La Liga was delayed due to pl…

Put The Champagne On Ice

We're going to Wembley thrice?

Well, that's certainly Liverpool's aim as they travel down to Wembley with the blue half of the city on Saturday. A win here for the Reds could send them to their second Wembley final of the season and as many Liverpool fans will admit another trophy in the cabinet would just about balance out the poor league campaign this season.

Injuries for Liverpool mean that Lucas, Adam, Kelly and Robinson are all unavailable but luckily for the Reds Daniel Agger and Glen Johnson have now got some game time under their belts after coming back from injury. Suspensions also mean that goalkeepers Pepe Reina and Alexander Doni will miss out.

For Everton their only real missing puzzle piece is Rodwell who has a hamstring injury. Pienaar is also cup tied but other than that the manager should have a free choice from his squad.

The last time the two sides met in the FA Cup was as recently as 2009. In a season where the Reds finished second in the league Everton act…

Carroll's Bonce Gives Liverpool Late Win

Image
Liverpool grabbed themselves a win in dramatic style at Ewood Park on Tuesday night in a 3-2 victory over Blackburn Rovers. Two early goals from Maxi Rodriguez gave the Reds a cushion in just 16 minutes but after goalkeeper Doni was sent off for Dalglish's side, Blackburn managed to get two goals in to bring things level. Andy Carroll was there when Liverpool needed him most though and sealed three points with his head.

The Liverpool side had several new faces within it as Dalglish kept an eye on Saturday's clash with Everton in the FA Cup semi final. Maxi Rodriguez was one face we haven't seen in a while and the likes of Glen Johnson and Sebastian Coates were opted in defence.

Liverpool for the first time in weeks actually capitalised on their lively early start against Blackburn with a goal just after 12 minutes. Maxi Rodriguez is a clever little fella and always seems to get himself in the right place at the right time, something that appears to have been difficult for…
