Liverpool's Last Six Games

Image
So for the past six Liverpool games, I've pretty much been missing in action. Those of you who follow me on Twitter or read the blog regularly will know that I recently finally moved out of the parents and into a new flat with the fella. Shortly after that we went on a two week trip to Italy that's been planned for a long time and while we were away the fella proposed. Insane, in the very best way.

While finally being an adult is exciting and keeping me extremely occupied, I am quite sad that I'm finding less and less time to blog. Writing is something I've always enjoyed so I try to find time where possible even if it's just to help me relax.

So, something a bit different on the blog today, I wanted to get down some thoughts on our last six matches, four of which I watched in different cities and towns in Italy.

As we draw ever closer to the last match of the season I thought it would be nice to look back on our recent clashes.

PREVIEW: Huddersfield V Liverpool

Liverpool make the short trip to Huddersfield this weekend as the Reds look to pick up where they left off prior to the international break. By contrast, the Reds are in third only due to goal difference, joint on points with both Chelsea and Manchester City.

Injuries for Liverpool took a bad turn during the international break as news of knocks and even broken bones began to filter through. A suspected broken thumb for Sadio Mane has seen him undergo hand surgery, Naby Keita left the field with an injury in the Guinea v Rwanda match and Mo Salah also went off injur…

So with the eve of 50 years since Shankly showed up at the Liverpool quarters nearly upon us, the 1st of December will mark exactly 5 decades since the great man began his reign at Liverpool Football Club.

William (Bill) Shankly was born on the 2nd September 1913. A small, isolated village in Ayrshire - Scotland would be host to the young life of arguably the greatest ever manager to grace the football league.

Shankly began his footballing career in 1931 when he became a player for his local team - Cronberry Eglinton. A year later he headed for Carlisle United but it wasn't until he again moved clubs to Preston North End that his playing abilities were truly realised.

His successes at PNE included;

Playing statistics:
Debut: 9th December 1933 v Hull City
Games: 297
Goals: 13
Honours:
1933-34 Runners Up Division 2
1936-37 F.A. Cup Runners Up
1937-38 F.A. Cup Winners

Shankly has his own stand at Preston NE with his face depicted using the seats and colours of the club see here.
