Sami Returns To Anfield

Image
In the last friendly of the season for Liverpool, Sami Hyypia brought his Bayer Leverkusen side to Anfield on Sunday. It was brilliant to see Sami back at the club he spent most of his career at, I must admit, I've missed that smile of his.

Liverpool scored 3 goals in the game whilst Leverkusen could only find one return. Raheem Sterling scored the first, this young man is just oozing confidence. Taking on two defenders he then curled his strike into the back of the net, it was a cracking goal.

Lucas scored Liverpool's second with an easy tap in after a terrible clearance from the Leverkusen defender.  It's nice to see Lucas back and even grabbing a goal! Haha. The last goal was scored by the big man Andy Carroll, at one stage it seemed like he may be off but here's hoping Brendan has had a change of heart because Carroll offers "the trick up the sleeve" he's a contrast to what is expected from a Rodgers side and that may well aid us in some stages through…

The friendly with Rangers on Tuesday night ended in a 1-0 loss for Liverpool. Kenny Dalglish's side just couldn't find the back of the net in the match at Ibrox.

Liverpool didn't go easy on Rangers and players such as Charlie Adam, Andy Carroll and Glen Johnson were just some utilised by the manager.

Lee McCulloch scored for the home side in the first half which secured Rangers the win by 90 minutes. Doni who let the goal in was the only injured party for Liverpool after he suffered a dislocated finger, but the goalkeeper managed to get some good game time in and this will surely be valuable for a player who has to face facts that Reina will long be the first choice.

In other news, Liverpool are close to reaching a deal with Uruguayan club Nacional. The deal would mean Liverpool could have first pickings on the clubs young players that come up through the academy.

I personally think this is a fantastic move, we know Su…

Grasshopper Result & Danny Wilson Signing

Is it not risky to parade your new signings at such heights?...
Liverpool's first friendly of the season after the game against Al Hilal was cancelled ended in a 0-0 draw. Hodgson's first game against old employers - Grasshopper was an average display, typical of a pre season friendly filled with youngsters and untested players.
By no means though was this a reason to raise fault at the unfamiliar looking Liverpool side, with academy starlets such as Eccleston and Amoo shining and also causing problems for Grasshopper, the fielded XI have nothing to be ashamed of.
The team was captained by Lucas and it was fellow regular Alberto Aquilani who had one of the most promising chances for the Red's who were showing off the latest third strip for the shop window. (Might i add the best option of a black strip for Liverpool FC this year is the alternative one, don't line their pockets! www.ourclubourshirt.com).
So a hard fought and promising 0-0 if ever there was one, shall look fo…
