Reds End The Season With A Draw

Image
Liverpool picked up a 1-1 draw at The Hawthorns in the final game of their Premier League season. With the league having ended on an average note, Jurgen Klopp will look to take his team to victory in the Europa League final on Wednesday night to secure Liverpool Champions League football next season.

A classy move by West Bromwich Albion was also on show as they installed 96 red seats at The Hawthorns with the names of those who lost their lives in the Hillsborough disaster. #YNWA
Jordon Ibe's Goal Jordon Ibe netted his first Premier League goal for the Reds on Sunday afternoon and what a goal it was. Running from practically the halfway line the youngster set his sights on goal and with the West Brom defence backing off, worried to make an approach, Jordon kept his command weaving into the box and scoring the equaliser for Liverpool via a fantastic finish.

Ibe has clearly got talent but he's looked a little off the mark lately when he's featured and I honestly feel that …

MATCH PREVIEW: Norwich V Liverpool

Image
Liverpool travel to Norwich on Saturday afternoon and Jurgen Klopp has indicated that there will be no sign of forward Daniel Sturridge who apparently is 10 days away from fitness. The Reds enter this game on the back of a win over Exeter City and will be looking to get back to winning ways after defeat at the hands of Manchester United most recently in the league.

Injuries

Injury news for the Reds obviously leads with the missing Daniel Sturridge but also still out is Martin Skrtel and it looks as though Adam Lallana will miss out on the game thanks to a muscle issue. For Norwich, they have received a real boost after signing Steven Naismith from Everton. Unavailable are both Gary O'Neil who serves a suspension and Andre Wisdom who is unable to feature against his parent team.

Previous Meetings

The last time the two sides met was is September last year, in a game that ended 1-1 the scorer for Liverpool was the missing Danny Ings. Our last trip to Norwich ended in victory with Luis…

Injury Woes For Reds But Ibe Nets Winner

Image
Liverpool managed to collect a much needed victory at the Britannia on Tuesday evening despite losing both Philippe Coutinho and Dejan Lovren during the first half due to hamstring injuries. In the second half Kolo Toure also played through what appeared to be another hamstring issue but it was Jordon Ibe who found the back of the net for the Reds and secured the win in the first leg.

The advantage going into the second leg of the semi final at Anfield will be invaluable for the Reds who may still be suffering injury wise come the end of January. Jurgen Klopp opted to start without a recognised striker for this fixture and also missing from the XI was Jordan Henderson and Mamadou Sakho.

The game started brightly for the Reds as the trio of Lallana, Firmino and Coutinho put their magic on show. Some wonderful moves and link up play from the threesome left Stoke quickly on the back foot and I must admit I was surprised to see Liverpool start so confidently.

Unfortunately we didn't …

Reds Stun Southampton At St Mary's

Image
In a game that started with a goal for Southampton after just seconds, it's hard to believe that Jurgen Klopp's side went on to put six past the Saints on Wednesday evening, but that's exactly what happened. Add to this the fact Divock Origi scored a hat trick, Sturridge scored a brace and Dejan Lovren actually played well... It does make you wonder if Klopp has some sort of magical hold over his team.

It was a phenomenal result for Liverpool who will surely fancy their chances of making it to the final at Wembley now after drawing Stoke in the semis. I personally was hoping for an Everton double header followed by City in the final but you certainly won't find me complaining about the draw.

The game couldn't have got off to a worse start for Liverpool as just 39 seconds in Saido Mane found the back of the net with a header. Assisted from a Bertrand cross, it was remarkable how easily the Saints found the back of the net. Southampton are a very good side and whils…

Reds Win In Russia

Image
Liverpool picked up an important victory on the road in the Europa League on Thursday night as Jurgen Klopp's side managed to collect a 1-0 win over Rubin Kazan. Jordon Ibe made his second start under the new manager count as he netted for the Reds after 52 minutes.

It was a game where Liverpool bossed chances and possession but they couldn't quite convert all of their efforts in front of goal. Things got off to a good start for the Reds after James Milner watched a shot smash off the crossbar. They had started with real intent and shortly afterwards a lovely cross from Clyne was heading for Benteke but Kverkvelia blocked successfully.

Late in the first half it was the Russian keeper Ryzhikov who had kept his side in the game after a wonderful reaction save which prevented an own goal. I'm not sure how much he knew of the first ricochet from the double stop but it was a brilliant piece of goalkeeping.

Kazan made a substitution immediately for the start of the second half …

Drab Merseyside Derby Ends 0-0

Image
Liverpool came away from Goodison Park with just a point on Saturday evening as Brendan Rodgers' side once again created movement and strings of attacks but failed to score. Liverpool have been riding on the hope that Sterling or Coutinho will find the back of the net for several matches now and in the Merseyside derby it just didn't work.

It's no secret that I hate playing without a striker and whilst several fans keep telling me that this formation works, it is my opinion that it does not. Not with the personnel we are currently using anyway. Sterling for me needs to be placed in his natural position and we need to play with a striker. Whilst three at the back appears to have been working a treat lately also Mamadou Sakho is forever creating a lack of confidence with his poor ability to retain possession and choose the correct pass.

I don't want to complain too much because somehow, despite not playing brilliantly Liverpool are of course on a good run of form but I …
