Six Nil, No Big Deal For Klopp

Image
Liverpool walked away from Villa Park on Sunday afternoon absolutely beaming after putting six past goalkeeper Bunn. The Reds converted with the help of six different goalscorers but it was the returning Daniel Sturridge who got off the mark first. Villa looked predictably deflated but what must be worrying for fans of the Midland side is that the players appeared to have given up. Obviously it's hard for any side to be on the end of a battering but for some of the Villa players there was just no fight in them at all.

"Interviewer: Have you ever won 6-0 away from home before? Jurgen Klopp: I think so... yeah... for sure. Sorry *laughs*"
The Magician feeds the forward There were several doubts hanging around about Daniel Sturridge before kick off but the majority of fans know better than to question the striker's ability. No matter how long he is out for or what the issue is, he always returns with a goal.
Even better for the Reds was the fact it was Philippe Coutinho w…

MATCH PREVIEW: Liverpool V Arsenal

Image
The Reds welcome Arsenal to Anfield on Wednesday evening and after some improvement in terms of injuries, along with the signing of Steven Caulker, boss Jurgen Klopp may be able to field a slightly stronger team than first predicted. The loaning of Caulker hasn't exactly excited many Liverpool fans but it's clear to see that it's a quick fix to a rather immediate issue in defence.

Injuries

There's some positive news for the Reds as both Mamadou Sakho and Kolo Toure are available. Jordon Ibe and Jordan Henderson could also feature but there will be no Daniel Sturridge. For Arsenal they are without key man Alexis Sanchez, Cazorla, Welbeck and Wilshere are also out but Ozil could return to the side on Wednesday evening.

Previous Meetings

The last time the two sides met was in August last year  in what was a strangely eventful 0-0. In April last year the Reds fell to a heavy defeat at the hands of Arsene Wenger's side when the Londoners scored four and Liverpool could o…

Injury Woes For Reds But Ibe Nets Winner

Image
Liverpool managed to collect a much needed victory at the Britannia on Tuesday evening despite losing both Philippe Coutinho and Dejan Lovren during the first half due to hamstring injuries. In the second half Kolo Toure also played through what appeared to be another hamstring issue but it was Jordon Ibe who found the back of the net for the Reds and secured the win in the first leg.

The advantage going into the second leg of the semi final at Anfield will be invaluable for the Reds who may still be suffering injury wise come the end of January. Jurgen Klopp opted to start without a recognised striker for this fixture and also missing from the XI was Jordan Henderson and Mamadou Sakho.

The game started brightly for the Reds as the trio of Lallana, Firmino and Coutinho put their magic on show. Some wonderful moves and link up play from the threesome left Stoke quickly on the back foot and I must admit I was surprised to see Liverpool start so confidently.

Unfortunately we didn't …

Reds Prepare For Old Trafford

Image
Liverpool make the short trip to Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon as the two titans of English football prepare to meet for the 163rd time in the league. The two sides are far from titanic at the moment though as both Brendan Rodgers and Louis van Gaal have struggled to get their seasons underway.

Whilst Manchester United have come into a bit of form, Liverpool are still struggling after being knocked out of the Champions League by Basel on Tuesday night.

Injuries for Liverpool mean they are still without long term absentees Daniel Sturridge and Jon Flanagan. Positively for the Reds though Kolo Toure, Adam Lallana and Mario Balotelli are all believed to be available for tomorrow's game.

For Manchester United they are without Chris Smalling, Angel di Maria and Luke Shaw. Already struggling with injury problems, the missing Angel di Maria is a big problem for manager Louis van Gaal.

The last time the two sides met was in March this year. Liverpool won the game 3-0 at Old Trafford a…

Reds Face Mourinho's Men

Image
After putting on a rather gutsy performance against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu, Brendan Rodgers may find himself with several questions to be answered over who to field in the starting line up tomorrow. Whilst it is evident Liverpool were lacking in attack midweek they improved dramatically defensively and this could result in somebody losing their place in the back four.

Injury wise Liverpool still have a few men on the list. Daniel Sturridge firstly is still unavailable with a long term injury. Also out for the Reds are Enrique, Sakho and Flanagan. For Chelsea, they are very strong with their only injury worries; Remy and Mikel both expected to return back to the squad tomorrow.

The last time the two sides met was a pretty heartbreaking affair for Liverpool fans after that now infamous "Gerrard slip". The Reds would have probably been on their way to a 19th title if they could have held out against Chelsea but perhaps admirably Brendan Rodgers opted to attack Chelsea'…

Transfers For LFC So Far...

Image
I'm sure you've all been keeping an eye on that transfer window so far this summer and hasn't it been interesting? Usually as a Liverpool fan you end up sitting around bored at this stage of the season until some relatively unknown youngster forces the L4 transfer window open and we finally see a bit of action. It's different this year though, there's been a hell of a lot of talk and a decent amount of action and below is a round up of the ins and outs at Liverpool Football Club so far...

INS

First in for manager Brendan Rodgers was the out of contract Kolo Toure. After finishing up with Manchester City the 32 year old seemed keen to continue his career at a top level and whilst some people have been having digs at the signing I think for a free transfer Brendan's done a savvy deal there. With the missing experience of Jamie Carragher, Toure even if he doesn't play week in, week out will bring some wisdom to the dressing room, an invaluable asset in my eyes…
