Super Mario 3

Mario Balotelli scored the winning goal on Tuesday evening as the Italian secured all three points for the Reds in the 84th minute. In an end to end game Brendan Rodgers' side took the lead twice only to watch Spurs level the scoreline before eventually sealing the win.

The game started with electrifying pace as both sides created dangerous attacks. With possession being foolishly lost in midfield it became easy for both sides to break and it wasn't long before Liverpool took advantage and scored their first goal of the game.

After Simon Mignolet made a save at the other end of the pitch his resulting kick found its way to Daniel Sturridge, with Markovic to his left he laid the ball to him and continued his run. As Lazar squared up to take his shot I found myself wondering why he wasn't passing it however his somewhat tame shot found its way past Hugo Lloris who perhaps should have done better.

As mentioned in my preview I wasn't feeling very positive at all about thi…

Markovic Scores In Sunderland Win

Liverpool successfully ground out a 1-0 win over ten man Sunderland on Saturday after a Lazar Markovic goal in the first half sealed the deal for the Reds. It wasn't a perfect performance from Brendan's side by any stretch of the imagination but there were certainly positives to take from the game including the clean sheet and influential performance from Markovic.

Luckily for Liverpool their next brush in with a refereeing decision worked very much in their favour. With just eight minutes gone in the game another quick break from Markovic down the right wing allowed him to pass the ball to Steven Gerrard. The captain then opted to pass to Borini who was quite clearly fouled as he attempted to get the ball back to Markovic, thankfully though the refe…

Reds Through To Semi Final

Image
Liverpool finally got themselves back to winning ways on Wednesday evening as they put three past Championship toppers Bournemouth. A much improved performance from the Reds' attack allowed Liverpool to punish the Cherries early on after they missed some chances of their own. A second half consolation goal wasn't enough for the home side to spring a comeback and Brendan Rodgers' side are now through to face Chelsea over two legs in the semi finals.

A decent first fifteen minutes for Liverpool was almost scuppered by Bournemouth when a couple of real chances nearly enabled them to take the lead. The Reds though remained in control and at 19 minutes Liverpool had got themselves off the mark.

A lovely headed pass back across goal from Jordan Henderson fell perfectly to Raheem Sterling who made sure he finished well. Sterling is easily our star player but he hasn't been converting his chances of late and so it was brilliant to see him score, it's just what he needed e…
