Suarez Stunner Sinks Sunderland

Celebrations for Lucas's newborn baby boy...
"STEVE BRUCE! You've got a big fat head! You've got a big fat head!"... Oh sorry, that's right, i have a match report to type up.

Bruce's Sunderland fell to a 2-0 defeat yesterday at the hand of Dalglish's Liverpool. A progressive performance which got better as the 90minutes went on saw Kuyt, Suarez and Spearing conspire to find the Reds those 3 points.

With Sunderland's Gyan having an intense rivalry with Suarez after the World Cup saga, we knew from the start the reaction our Uruguayan would get on the ball. Starting up front with our number 7 was none other than Andy Carroll, back in his more familiar number 9 jersey this was the Geordie's first Premier League start.

In midfield Dalglish had once again opted for youngster Jay Spearing with Lucas alongside him. Meireles and Kuyt made up the rest of the midfield line up with Agger, Skrtel, Carragher, Johnson and Reina making up the defence.

Bizarre Kuyt Goal Helps Liverpool Scrape Draw

Fans protest from the Sunderland game in March portrays a similar picture to yesterday's sit in protest at Anfield...
It was an eventful 90minutes to say the least yesterday for all those in a Red shirt and Sunderland were having their fair share of the action too. There was no beach ball this time but a refereeing mishap leading to a goal just as bizarre meant the game got off on a very strange foot.
Roy stood by his claims from a few days ago and completely changed the side that he started against Northampton. Reina was back in goal with the four in front of him including Johnson, Carragher, Skrtel and Konchesky. Midfield was made up of Cole, Kuyt, Gerrard, Meireles and Poulsen who was sitting in an even more defensive position than he has been placed in previous games. Torres lead the line.
It didn't take Liverpool long to get going after we saw a Torres goal ruled narrowly offside. It appeared we had started with the correct tempo.
Just before 5minutes Liverpool had themselves…

Bruce's Sunderland Travel To Anfield

Let's hope if they do score this time out it's an actual player on the scoresheet...
Liverpool open the doors for Sunderland tomorrow as Steve Bruce's side make the trip to the North West to face Roy Hodgson's deflated side. After being knocked out of the League Cup by Northampton it is not a great feel around Anfield at the moment but Hodgson has dropped clues in an interview that none of the XI who started on Thursday night will feature on the team sheet for tomorrow's game.
No Liverpool fan will forget a certain Sunderland game last season when a giant inflatable Liverpool beach ball helped along Darren Bent and completely fooled Reina to seal them a 1-0 win. Liverpool of course had the last laugh though in the follow up fixture when they beat Sunderland 3-0, the game included that superb goal from Fernando Torres from a tight angle near the far corner of the box.
It is believed there is a possibility that Dirk Kuyt may feature for the Reds tomorrow after apparentl…

Revenge Is Sweet

Some things are best forgotten...

After perhaps the most bizarre highlight of our season at The Stadium Of Light back in October when a giant Liverpool beach ball helped Darren Bent fool Pepe Reina and seal a win for Sunderland, Sunday marks the day for appropriate revenge and a fixture where a much needed three points should be collectible.

Liverpool have hit a wall somewhat after being so fluent in their goalscoring with 3 against Lille and 4 against Portsmouth, Manchester United posed a threat and the goal rout was limited to just the one from Fernando Torres in a 2-1 defeat.

The game against Sunderland will be a true marker of the current character of the players, the manager and the team as a whole. The Liverpool we know will turn this around and make it a winner for the Anfield faithful, but the not so familiar Liverpool side we have seen sparks of throughout the season could make it a difficult one and allow Steve Bruce's boys to walk away with a token for their e…
