Liverpool Aim To Go One Better Against Arsenal

After a brilliant performance against Manchester City last weekend Liverpool will certainly fancy their chances against Wenger's Arsenal side that have recently lost the extremely influential Robin van Persie. The Reds deserved to win last weekend but a couple of silly mistakes cost them.

Injury wise for Liverpool the very bad news is that Lucas Leiva will be out for up to 3 months, I'm absolutely gutted for him and wish him the speediest of recoveries. Other than that Liverpool are in a pretty strong position with Daniel Agger also returning after serving a one match ban. For Arsenal, there is a doubt hanging over Szczesny who missed their last fixture.

I can't really get through this post without discussing Friday's transfer deadline day to be honest, I'll try to make it short and sweet because this is supposed to be an Arsenal preview after all.

Friday left us without Andy Carroll, Charlie Adam and Jay Spearing. Whilst Jay Spearing and Charlie Adam were moves w…

Late Dempsey Winner Leaves Liverpool Deflated

Liverpool fell to a late defeat at Craven Cottage on Monday night after the home side grabbed a winner courtesy of Clint Dempsey. Liverpool by no means deserved to lose and after a frustrating battle with rotten luck and some questionable refereeing decisions the Reds found themselves gutted by the end of the 90 minutes.

Dalglish chose to play Jay Spearing in the gap left by the injured Lucas Leiva and it was Henderson and Bellamy selected for the wings. Dempsey and Dembele did start in the end after doubts over there fitness and Jol went with Zamora as his front man.

Before i get into the swing of things I'd just like to point out from the onset that i am not making excuses, I'm not blaming the referee, I'm just going to be highlighting the fact that Liverpool were seriously unlucky. On another day, decisions would have been different and the soddin bar and post would have moved an inch! Anyway...

It was a lively start from both sides at the Cottage with Dembele getting …

Carroll Brace In 3-0 Win For Liverpool

A minutes silence before kick off to remember the 96 Liverpool fans who lost their lives at Hillsborough and also to remember a soldier who recently lost his life in Afghanistan and ex super sub David Fairclough's wife. The silence was impeccably observed by both sets of fans.
A Liverpool side stricken with injuries yesterday managed to pull out all the stops and confidently beat Manchester City whilst maintaining a clean sheet. Three goals for the Reds were the result of a strong attack from kick off. Considering the midfield also had a major hole in it after the absence of Steven Gerrard, the lads could have fooled anyone into thinking we had drafted in Iniesta to look after the place for 90minutes.

Most fans looking at this fixture were fearing the worst. City are above us in the table and can pack a punch when their stars are up for it. Last night however Mancini's side only backed up my opinions about them, it's ok spending millions on top class players but you can'…

Suarez Stunner Sinks Sunderland

Celebrations for Lucas's newborn baby boy...
"STEVE BRUCE! You've got a big fat head! You've got a big fat head!"... Oh sorry, that's right, i have a match report to type up.

Bruce's Sunderland fell to a 2-0 defeat yesterday at the hand of Dalglish's Liverpool. A progressive performance which got better as the 90minutes went on saw Kuyt, Suarez and Spearing conspire to find the Reds those 3 points.

With Sunderland's Gyan having an intense rivalry with Suarez after the World Cup saga, we knew from the start the reaction our Uruguayan would get on the ball. Starting up front with our number 7 was none other than Andy Carroll, back in his more familiar number 9 jersey this was the Geordie's first Premier League start.

In midfield Dalglish had once again opted for youngster Jay Spearing with Lucas alongside him. Meireles and Kuyt made up the rest of the midfield line up with Agger, Skrtel, Carragher, Johnson and Reina making up the defence.

Incentive For Reds As They Search For 5th Win & 5th Clean Sheet

It will be no surprise if the on fire Raul Meireles scores again tomorrow...
Liverpool are in search of a 5th win on the bounce tomorrow as they welcome Wigan to Anfield. Also on the back of four clean sheets, Dalglish's side will surely be brimming with confidence going into this fixture against a side in 18th place.

With results seeing a major improvement at Liverpool it is very hard to look at this clash and not predict a Liverpool win. With solid defensive displays and clear attacking options, even without using our two new signings, surely 3 points are within our reach tomorrow.

However, it is vital we don't push aside Wigan's valiant efforts in a mad weekend of football last week. A battle with Blackburn saw them eventually take all three points after beating fellow Lancashire neighbours 4-3.

Liverpool have never lost to Wigan at home but despite this strong home record, as recently as March of last season i am sure you will all remember a 1-0 defeat at the hands of W…

Suarez Expected To Make Debut Against Stoke

Suarez arrives...
Earlier in the season Liverpool fell to a 2-0 defeat at the Britannia but as we all know, several things have changed since then. With Kenny Dalglish settling in nicely to his new job and clearly boosting the sides performances in the past few weeks, hopefully this time out Liverpool can get the better of Stoke.

On the back of a win in the FA Cup against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Stoke may have some confidence coming into this fixture but with two losses and a win in their last three games in the league perhaps this backs up a case for Liverpool's confidence.

The Reds recent form reads two wins and a draw with the attack looking a lot more lively too. Raul Meireles has been on fire of late and should he start tomorrow expect another electric stint from the midfielder.

Steven Gerrard I'm sure too tomorrow will be filled with excitement and will no doubt be looking to support Luis Suarez in his bid to find his first Liverpool goal.

The Reds are still unable to ca…
