Stoke See Out 1-0 Win

Image
Despite 24 shots at goal Liverpool could do nothing yesterday to break through the brick wall of Stoke's defence at the Britannia. The home side put themselves in front with a penalty early on and never looked back. Tony Pulis' boys continue their unbeaten run in their fantastic start to the Premier League season.

New signing Craig Bellamy had to settle for a start from the bench and so too did Uruguayan defender Sebastian Coates. Suarez was the main man up front and Jose Enrique gained himself another start in Dalglish's defence.

The match unfortunately for Liverpool was marred by penalty decisions and missed chances.

The first incident for Mark Clattenburg to make a call on was a hand ball by Rory Delap in the box. Contact was made by the Stoke player after Kuyt had kicked the ball and from what i could see, Delap made no attempt to move his arms out the way, i realise Clattenburg doesn't have the bonus of watching replays but i think he made the wrong decision here…

Suarez Expected To Make Debut Against Stoke

Suarez arrives...
Earlier in the season Liverpool fell to a 2-0 defeat at the Britannia but as we all know, several things have changed since then. With Kenny Dalglish settling in nicely to his new job and clearly boosting the sides performances in the past few weeks, hopefully this time out Liverpool can get the better of Stoke.

On the back of a win in the FA Cup against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Stoke may have some confidence coming into this fixture but with two losses and a win in their last three games in the league perhaps this backs up a case for Liverpool's confidence.

The Reds recent form reads two wins and a draw with the attack looking a lot more lively too. Raul Meireles has been on fire of late and should he start tomorrow expect another electric stint from the midfielder.

Steven Gerrard I'm sure too tomorrow will be filled with excitement and will no doubt be looking to support Luis Suarez in his bid to find his first Liverpool goal.

The Reds are still unable to ca…

Can We See Off Stoke?

Liverpool drew 1-1 at Stoke last season...
Liverpool travel to the Britannia Stadium tomorrow for an evening clash with Stoke City. After the dismal performance at Wigan, this away trip is again posing questions for Liverpool fans, even with Stoke on such poor form (perhaps some of it can be brushed off as bad luck) i still don't think Liverpool will get anything at all if we set up tactically and play as we did at the DW.
Liverpool seem to have an ever growing injury list, just as somebody gets fit another gets injured. Ryan Babel is suffering from bruised ribs. Meireles came off at half time against Wigan due to sickness. Brad Jones is still injured and so too Daniel Agger. Sotirios Kyrgiakos and Glen Johnson with both have late assessments and rumour has it that Roy will be making a late call on Joe Cole.
Liverpool can still boast being unbeaten in 4 league games but Stoke will be well aware of the Reds lack lustre performance midweek. Stoke themselves have just got their first wi…

Britannia Could Be Brutal

Image
With the rather pitiful defeat to Reading midweek, the re-immersion of calling for Rafa's head, injuries to Torres, Gerrard and Benayoun, Ryan Babel stirring on Twitter, countless articles highlighting our terrible run of results, papers bigging up talk that we will "do a Leeds" and almost every member of the Liverpool faithful struggling to find an upside to this downward spiral, the trip to Stoke is not exactly looking to be a lifeline.
The Britannia Stadium for a starters is not a nice place to go, one of the noisiest grounds in the country, Stoke fans with their own chants and no doubt jibes for the Liverpool side will be in their element at kick off on Saturday.
With an injury list full with key players, it makes you wonder whether we can pull off a win with such a different looking side.
However, to try and look at things positively, Mascherano is back from suspension, Aquilani will no doubt be given another chance to impress, Maxi Rodriguez has been named in the squ…
