Suarez Hat Trick In Cardiff Win

Image
It certainly wasn't plain sailing for Liverpool on Saturday as they conceded an early goal from Cardiff making it much more difficult for themselves. Things never seem to be simple with Brendan Rodgers' side though, the way in which Liverpool play is always calling for risk but the plus side is the Reds know that they will score more goals. It's a gloriously exciting yet dangerous way to play football, especially at this stage of the season but it worked on Saturday for Liverpool.

Brendan Rodgers made only one change to the team from the Manchester United game, opting to replace Raheem Sterling with Philippe Coutinho.

Whilst on paper this game should have been a simple win for Liverpool, many fans appeared to forget that Cardiff were fighting for their lives and they would definitely get some chances on the counter attack. Unfortunately for Liverpool, these chances cropped up sooner than expected and with a less than alert defence the Reds conceded their first goal just e…

"Top, Top" Goals In A "Top, Top" Performance

Image
Liverpool put on a simply sublime display at Anfield yesterday as they put four goals past West Brom. A consolation spot kick for the away side had them wondering whether they could have been in a different position if an early penalty decision had also gone their way. I think when looking back on the game though Steve Clarke would fail to deny Liverpool the win here, a hat trick from Suarez including some great goals and then an absolute stunner from Daniel Sturridge secured all three points for the Reds.

Liverpool once again decided to field a variation on their three at the back system and I must admit I wasn't expecting that for this game. People appear to have confused what I was saying on Twitter pre-match because I am a fan of three at the back, I really like it especially when Jose Enrique is available but I thought Rodgers may opt for four at the back for this one, however I'm glad he didn't!

Things got under way very quickly for Liverpool on Saturday as they man…

Sturridge Hat Trick Sinks Fulham

Image
My favourite image from Sunday, it's just a shame there isn't a bigger version... Image: gettyimages
Liverpool came back from a goal behind at Craven Cottage on Sunday to win the game 3-1 courtesy of a Daniel Sturridge hat trick. Berbatov opened the scoring for the home side but the Reds quickly found an equaliser and went from strength to strength. Fulham were angry that they weren't awarded a penalty after the ball struck Lucas' hand in the second half and this perhaps stumped their momentum.

Liverpool began the game with a pretty different starting XI. Steven Gerrard was the main man missing but there was also no Agger or Skrtel giving Coates a chance to start. Wisdom and Shelvey also made appearances.

Liverpool began the game strongly applying pressure on the Fulham back four. One member who would appear as a substitute received a great reception from the travelling fans, John Arne Riise made clear his appreciation after the match.

Phillippe Coutinho left the away f…

Hat Trick For Suarez In Wigan Win

Image
A well-oiled Liverpool side put 4 past Roberto Martinez's Wigan on Saturday and took all 3 points from the DW. Stewart Downing headed home Liverpool's first making it only his second league goal for the Reds and Luis Suarez was left to work his magic scoring a hat trick in great style.

There was no Daniel Sturridge for the Reds and once again Jamie Carragher was preferred in defence to the out of favour Martin Skrtel. Looking back after the result it makes you realise that there could have been even more goals because Sturridge would have surely found the back of the net in that game, we're in a comfortable position for a change when it comes to attack.

It only took the Reds a couple of minutes to get off the mark and it was Phillipe Coutinho impressing the masses. Some lovely skill from the ex Inter Milan player allowed him to play in a lovely cross to an awaiting Stewart Downing, the presented header was too easy to miss and Liverpool were 1-0 up.

Liverpool's second…

Suarez Sinks Stunning Hat-Trick Against Canaries

Image
Liverpool put three past Norwich at Carew Road on Saturday as the Reds got themselves back to winning ways in the League. A stunning hat-trick from Luis Suarez sent the away fans wild and with little left to play for in the League other than perhaps topping Everton, it was an exciting and refreshing 90 minutes from the Reds.

Dalglish opted for a slightly different starting line up, perhaps due to having one eye on next weekends fixture. Carragher was in the defence and Downing and Shelvey also made the start.

Norwich had to make a substitution early on in the game when Adam Drury went down injured. Russell Martin took his place.

It didn't take Liverpool long to find their first goal and after some good pressure from the Reds Luis Suarez found the back of the net. Set up by Steven Gerrard the Uruguayan with a lovely finish curled the ball past Ruddy, it looked like it was about to go wide but it slotted itself in and put the Reds 1-0 up.

Many feared Gerrard was actually injured he…

Liverpool 6 Hull 1

Image
A brilliant display from the Red's this afternoon with the highlight being on the hat-trick hero Fernando Torres. Steven Gerrard also was back onto the score sheet and super sub Ryan Babel made an impressive impact with two goals after coming off the bench. Hull's only offer was an equalizer from Geovanni which didn't last long.

The Red's got on with the job in hand fairly early into the first half with Torres setting off the scoring just after the ten minute mark, he picked up a lovely cross from Riera on the left wing and swiftly side stepped Sonko with ease, once the space was created he slotted the ball home. Just 5 minutes later and were in the same situation we have been in several times within our last few premier league fixtures and we had lost the lead already. A somewhat clumsy header from Martin Skrtel is headed into the path of Geovanni who takes full advantage and the ball flies into the net. 1-1.
At this still early stage i find myself bewildered, why is th…
