Reds Finally Beat A Side Above Them In The Table

Liverpool produced an emphatic win over Swansea on Sunday with 5 different goalscorers finding the back of the net. In complete contrast to their last outing in the league against West Brom, this time the Reds created and took their chances leaving a weakened Swansea side with a lot to deal with.

Brendan put out a very strong XI for this fixture and new signing Coutinho also got his first start. Laudrup though made 7 changes to his Swansea side perhaps with one eye on Wembley. Sturridge was back up front for Liverpool who missed him dearly in the Europa League.

Liverpool began the first half at Anfield in a confident fashion, shots from the likes of Coutinho, Suarez and Sturridge didn't take long to appear at all but the home crowd would have to wait until just after the half hour mark to see their first goal of the game.

At 33 minutes Luis Suarez was taken down in the box by Agustein, the Uruguayan had been challenged earlier in the box too but appeals were waved. Nevertheless L…

Suarez And Van Persie Look To Seal Their Side The Win

It's that time of year again, the time when Liverpool make the short trip to Manchester and attempt to wipe that smug grin off Alex Ferguson's old wrinkly face. He can chew all the extra he wants, everything that comes out of his mouth still stinks and on Sunday the Reds will look to pull off a rare victory at Old Trafford.

With Daniel Sturridge scoring on his debut for Liverpool and Luis Suarez in excellent form it certainly feels as though the Reds are capable of scoring, the thing that worries me is can we hold on to a lead if we manage to find one?

For Liverpool there are no new injury worries but with the news about Jose Enrique recently there has been a shuffle in defence with Glen Johnson switching sides and Andre Wisdom most likely taking the right back position for this one. I like Wisdom a lot but I get the feeling he's going to have a tough time against United.

The Red Devils are minus their scouse talisman Wayne Rooney but it won't worry them too much what…

Black Cats At Anfield

Liverpool welcome Sunderland to Anfield tomorrow and hopefully Brendan Rodgers will be well enough to oversee this one as the Reds look to take another 3 points in the league. It was a confident win for Liverpool against QPR but Sunderland perhaps pose a stronger threat.

Injuries for Liverpool mean they are without the influential Jose Enrique who pulled his hamstring against QPR there is also the problem looming around camp of the illness that the manager has had, some of the players like Brad Jones picked up the virus too and it is hoped the rest of the side have escaped catching the illness.

Sunderland have no new injury worries except the absence of John O'Shea who like Enrique pulled his hamstring in the Black Cats tie with Spurs at the weekend.

Liverpool are currently placed 9th in the league whilst Sunderland are in 13th, 6 points behind the Reds.

The last time the two sides met was in September 2012, the game ended in a 1-1 draw with Luis Suarez and Steven Fletcher findin…

Reds Baled Out But Still No Win

It was a lively game at White Hart Lane on Wednesday night with both sides having several chances at goal, whilst Liverpool had to rely on the opposition scoring for them though Tottenham converted two chances very early on and were able to maintain their lead throughout the 90 minutes.

Brendan opted to start once again with Henderson and Stewart Downing, pushing Enrique up front in the hope he would add to our attack. Sterling and Suarez were regarded as the main threat for Liverpool though going into this one.

It didn't take Spurs long at all to take their lead leaving Liverpool pretty much shell shocked. Aaron Lennon was able to turn in a Gareth Bale cross after Bale broke with ease past an adjusting Stewart Downing.

Liverpool were able to respond to this but unsuccessfully, Suarez went very close but an even better chance fell to Jordan Henderson who I feel the more I watch, the more I learn he is a confidence player. Faced with an open goal he managed to miss the target, he …

Enrique Cements Wigan Win

Liverpool managed to buck their ideas up in a second half against Wigan which saw them put three goals past keeper Al Habsi. Enrique cemented the win for the Reds but it was Suarez once again who stole the show with 2 goals and several chances of upping his tally.

Reina was back in the starting XI for Liverpool and it was the three S's leading the attack again with Suso, Sterling and Suarez all starting.

The game began for Liverpool in a similar way to the Chelsea fixture, a reasonably good performance but with no real chances or panache. The positive thing for Liverpool this time though was that no offence to Wigan but they aren't Chelsea and the Reds had also managed to ensure that despite not scoring themselves in the first half, they hadn't conceded either. The first half also saw a substitution with Henderson replacing Suso at 35 minutes.

The second half was in complete contrast to the first and Liverpool stormed off the mark with a goal from everybody's favourit…

Brendan's Boys In Bonnie Scotland

Hearts are the opposition for Liverpool on Thursday night as they continue their attempts to proceed through the Europa League rounds. The Reds will look for a result to take back to Anfield and with Manchester City looming at the weekend they will surely want to go about this in the easiest way possible.

Injury problems aren't major for both sides but Joe Cole pulled up in the West Brom game and there are also doubts over Jose Enrique for the Reds. For Hearts, striker Zaliukas is a doubt after suffering a knock on the weekend.

The sides haven't met since 1929 and with Liverpool rarely playing Scottish opposition competitively this game is sure to be an interesting one. The short away trip will also help provide an exciting atmosphere in Edinburgh.

Whilst Hearts will have the desire and the ability to field a full strength team, Liverpool will perhaps go into this one feeling a bit like it should be a done deal. The City game on Sunday may encourage Brendan to field players l…

Spurs Send Four Past Lacklustre Liverpool

Liverpool fell to a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Tottenham this afternoon and went down to 9 men in the process. Charlie Adam and Martin Skrtel both received their marching orders in a poor game for the Reds. A sublime strike from Modric led the way for the home side and three more goals were sent past a frustrated Pepe Reina before the 90 minutes were up.

One change to the Liverpool side saw Dirk Kuyt dropped and Andy Carroll chosen to start up front with Luis Suarez.

Harry Redknapp's side were keen to stamp their authority on the game early on and after a bout of possession their first goal came just after 6 minutes in. Reina was unable to do anything to prevent the strike from Modric, a fantastic goal taken from 25 yards out.

Liverpool were already way behind the pace and picked up a few problems in the first half. Charlie Adam found himself booked just after the 10 minute mark, Mike Jones the referee appeared to be pretty trigger happy though and was dishing out the cards like …
